My Long Lost Friend
You know that feeling you get when you open up an old book with worn out pages and the smell of it permeates the air around you
Stimulating all your senses
And you just know the words on those pages changed the lives of the many who have held it in their hands before you
Inspiring you
Delighting you
Mystifying you
Changing you
Against all odds
Thoughts of you then spring to mind
You are that feeling to me
Home, familiar, beautiful in so many ways
A classic good soul with a heart of gold you tried to bury too long ago
Something so worthy to further explore and behold
A long lost friend
When the curtain comes down
When the veil is lifted
We can be ourselves
Forget what’s on the cover
What’s underneath
The space between the lines
Holds so much more wonder
Holding you close to my heart tonight
And forever more
