Shame in the Spiritual Community

In the spiritual community, there has been a lot of talk lately about how one shouldn’t be so attached to tarot cards, to an astrologer, to a psychic, etc. They preach that one should not have to look outside of ones self in order to know what to do or what you are currently supposed be learning about their current stage of life. There is a truth to that, however, what really bothers me is the shame that can surround this message.

If someone is brand new to developing their intuition, they have to build up a foundation of knowledge around it before they can just be super tuned in to what messages they are receiving from spirit or their higher self. For example, if someone does not at all have any sort of foundation around Astrology, doesn’t understand the archetypes or the myths or what the energy feels like for each planet or the basic knowledge of what the signs or houses represent, they need to take time to build up that knowledge, to maybe explore the different kinds of astrology, to learn from different teachers, to possibly receive a natal chart reading from a few different astrologers with different backgrounds before they can just start understanding what their own intuition is trying to tell them.

You cannot start working out on a random Monday morning and expect to lose 30 pounds or have a super hot, toned body by Friday of that very same week. It takes time to learn what exercises work best for your body type, what foods fuel your body the best, heck, most don’t even know how to do the exercises with the correct form unless they are guided by a personal trainer or someone who has already built a solid foundation of anatomy and physical exercise science education.

So my goal in writing this is to please, please, please do not be so hard on yourself if at the beginning of developing your intuition, you need a little help from others. Use your resources. Tarot cards and astrology are resources. It takes time to learn and to develop skills and to gain mastery of something. Sure, some people are naturally more intuitive in one area than others but that does not mean if you can’t hear your inner voice the very first time you try, that you can’t ever build up that skill for yourself. Be gentle, compassionate and patient with yourself. It will happen if you take some time to build up a solid foundation of knowledge of what being intuitive feels like first.

Allow space for opportunities to practice in order to begin trusting yourself, learn about discernment, learn what the different clairs are (clairaudient, clairsentience, etc.) first, and don’t give up if at first you don’t succeed. Yes, that Aaliyah song is playing in my head right now…”And if at first you don’t succeed, then dust yourself off and try again, you can dust it off and try again, try again!” Haha

You will naturally start to get a feel for what certain energies feel like, you will start to hear messages more clearly, and you will become masterful at developing your own intuition, but give yourself a break if it does not happen for you over night for goodness sakes!!! On the flip side of this, there are people who do not take the time to develop their own gift of intuition and just want others to tell them who they are and what to do. This is where it vital to learn how to take your own power back and to stop giving it away so freely! We are all meant to be sovereign beings!

The biggest issues in life ALWAYS stem from learning how to cultivate a state of balance and to adapt and evolve along the way. To learn how to ebb and flow more naturally with life. Going too far right or going too far left never has done well for us, as a society or for humanity at large!
